Drain Jetting Services & Pricing

Domestic Drain Jetting

High-pressure jetting for household drains — kitchen sinks, bathroom waste pipes, external gullies. Cuts through grease accumulation that builds up in London's older cast iron and clay drains.

From £150

Commercial Kitchen Drain Jetting

Commercial kitchen drains accumulate hardened grease deposits (FOG — fats, oils, grease) that standard jetting won't fully remove. We use heated water jetting combined with enzyme dosing for commercial grade clearance.

From £250

Sewer Jetting

Main sewer line jetting for root intrusion, collapsed sediment, and scale build-up. We jet from the access chamber with 100m+ hose reach. CCTV survey recommended before and after to confirm clearance.

From £300

Drain Descaling

Calcium and silica scale builds up in London's clay and cast iron drains over decades. Descaling nozzles — chain flail and rotary cutters — break up hard deposits that standard jetting can't remove.

From £200

Grease Trap Cleaning

Grease traps in commercial properties require scheduled cleaning to maintain FOG compliance. We pump, jet, and treat grease traps with bio-enzyme dosing to reduce return frequency.

From £180

Why Drain Jetting vs Drain Rods?

Rods push the blockage rather than remove it — there is a real risk of partial clearance, where the blockage is displaced further down the pipe only to reform days later. Jetting removes the material entirely using high-pressure water, flushing debris back towards the access point and out of the system.

Jetting also cleans the pipe walls. Grease and scale that have built up on the inner surface of the drain are cut away during jetting — rods leave this coating in place, meaning the pipe re-blocks faster after rodding than after a proper jet clearance.

For tree root intrusion, rods are essentially useless — they cannot cut through roots. A root-cutting jetting nozzle (chain flail or rotary cutter head) is the correct tool and will remove fine root intrusion from the pipe in a single pass.

London-Specific Data

Why London Properties Are Different

130 tonnes

Weight of the 2017 Whitechapel fatberg — a 250-metre mass of hardened cooking fat, wet wipes and soap scum. London produces a new fatberg incident roughly every 2 months in its Victorian sewer network.

64 years

Average age of London's drainage infrastructure. Much of it is Victorian clay or early 20th-century concrete — materials that accumulate scale and FOG deposits faster than modern smooth-bore plastic.

65%

Proportion of London's drainage network that is Victorian-era clay pipe, which has rough internal surfaces that attract grease deposits significantly faster than modern HDPE or PVC.

4,000 PSI

Maximum operating pressure of our Rioned Combi jetting equipment. The standard setting for most household drain runs is 1,500–2,500 PSI — higher pressures are used for root cutting and commercial sewer jetting.

100m+

Hose reach of our jetting equipment — sufficient to clear most London residential and commercial drain runs from a single access point without excavation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is drain jetting and how does it work?

Drain jetting (high-pressure water jetting) uses water pressurised to 1,500–4,000 PSI through a flexible hose with a specialised nozzle. The nozzle has forward-cutting jets (to break up the blockage) and rear-facing jets (which propel the hose forward and flush debris back towards the access point). Unlike rods, which push the blockage further down the drain, jetting removes the material from the pipe entirely. It also cleans the pipe walls — grease and scale that have accumulated over years are cut away, not just displaced.

When should I call for drain jetting rather than DIY drain unblocker?

DIY chemical drain unblockers work on fresh, soft grease blockages in the first metre of a waste pipe — they're ineffective on total blockages, blockages more than 1–2m from the drain opening, or anything involving scale, roots or broken pipe fragments. If water is backing up completely or draining extremely slowly despite chemical treatment, jetting is the correct solution. In London's older drainage systems, chemical descalers are rarely sufficient because the scale is hard calcium/silica deposit rather than organic grease.

How much does drain jetting cost in London?

Domestic drain jetting starts from £150 for a standard household drain clearance. External sewer jetting is typically £200–£350 depending on drain length. Commercial kitchen drain jetting (FOG clearance) starts from £250. All prices include the jet clearance and a verbal confirmation that the drain is running clear. A CCTV survey to locate blockages before jetting and confirm clearance afterwards is an additional £150–£250. We provide written quotes before starting for larger commercial jobs.

Will drain jetting damage my pipes?

Standard high-pressure jetting is safe for PVC, HDPE, cast iron, and vitrified clay pipes in good condition. The water pressure is controlled to match the pipe material and condition. The one exception is very old, already-cracked earthenware drain sections — jetting can dislodge fragments from already-failing pipes. This is exactly why we recommend a CCTV survey before jetting on Victorian properties or any drain with a history of recurring blockages: it lets us identify fragile sections before applying pressure.

What is the difference between drain jetting and drain rodding?

Rods are rigid sections screwed together and pushed manually into the drain — they displace blockages by physical force, pushing them either free or further down the pipe. They're effective on soft blockages close to the access point but can't remove grease deposits from pipe walls. Jetting uses water pressure to cut through and flush out blockages, and simultaneously cleans the pipe wall surface. Jetting takes more time to set up but provides a far more thorough clearance — essential for recurring blockages where grease is coating the pipe walls.

Can drain jetting remove tree roots from drains?

Yes — root-cutting jetting nozzles (chain flail and rotary cutter heads) cut through fine root intrusion and remove it from the drain. However, jetting only removes the roots currently in the pipe — it doesn't prevent regrowth. If roots are entering through a cracked or offset joint, the joint needs repair (excavation or pipe-lining) or the roots will return within 1–3 years. A CCTV survey after jetting will show whether the root entry point (the joint) needs attention.

How long does drain jetting take?

A standard domestic drain jetting job takes 1–2 hours including setup, clearance, and a post-jet flow test. Commercial sewer jetting on longer drain runs may take 2–4 hours. We carry 100m+ of hose, so most London residential drain runs can be fully jetted from a single access point. If the drain has multiple bends or lateral connections, jetting time increases.

How often should I have my drains jetted?

Domestic drains don't need scheduled jetting unless you've had recurring blockages. Most London households find jetting every 3–5 years is sufficient to keep drains clear. Commercial kitchens are different — FOG (fats, oils, grease) accumulation in commercial drain lines typically requires jetting every 3–12 months depending on volume and menu type. We can advise on the right schedule based on your drain configuration and usage.

Do you provide a CCTV drain survey with jetting?

Yes. We can carry out a CCTV survey before jetting (to identify blockage cause and pipe condition), after jetting (to confirm clearance and check for pipe damage), or as a standalone service. Our CCTV units are compatible with drain diameters from 50mm to 300mm and can navigate multiple bends. We provide a written report with video footage — useful for insurance claims or pre-purchase drainage surveys.

My drain keeps blocking in the same place — why?

Recurring blockages in the same location usually indicate a structural issue rather than just grease or debris accumulation. Common causes: an offset joint where the pipe has subsided — creating a ledge that catches debris; a partial root intrusion that wasn't fully removed in a previous jetting; a section of collapsed pipe that catches solid material. A CCTV survey after your most recent blockage would identify the cause. In many cases, pipe lining (cured-in-place pipe lining, CIPP) can repair structural issues without excavation.
